When the bombs dropped in the world of Fallout 4, society was knee deep into music like “Anything Goes” by Cole Porter and “Atom Bomb Baby” by J.F. Young. These musical tendencies are reflected in the various songs that are played by the radio stations in the Boston Commonwealth, but what if Adele’s ultra popular hit “Hello” was written by a character living in the post-apocalyptic wasteland?
One Fallout 4 fan has answered that question, creating a parody of “Hello” within the context of the game’s story. The lyrics detail the early events of the game, as seen through the eyes of the player character. The creator of the video chose to go with a female playable character, which makes sense considering the song is performed by Adele.
The video is embedded below, but be warned that it does contain some spoilers for Fallout 4‘s story. While most of the spoilers involve the very early events of the game, there are also hints at some of the factions that don’t appear until a few hours into the plot. In any case, enjoy:
Fallout 4‘s soundtrack is full of 50’s-era music, so seeing a modern hit like “Hello” by Adele play over scenes from the game is a little odd for someone that has played it quite extensively. Even so, the parody is well done, the lyrics make sense, and it should be a treat for fans of the game.
Overall, there haven’t been a ton of Fallout 4 parody videos, or at least, not as many as compared to other hit games like Grand Theft Auto 5. It seems as though most of the creative juices of the Fallout 4 community have been channeled into making mods for the game, which certainly isn’t a bad thing. After all, Fallout 4‘s mods have been very creative and amusing, with the “Macho Man” Randy Savage Deathclaw mod a testament to this.
Two months since the game’s launch, the fandom surrounding Fallout 4 has not slowed. The game is likely to see even more mods and parody videos like this one and the Fallout 4/Counter-Strike mashup video as 2016 marches on. Hopefully the quality keeps up, but considering what the Fallout 4 fan base has given us so far, there’s little reason to worry.
What do you think of this Fallout 4 parody of Adele’s “Hello”? Did you find it amusing, or are you not a big fan of the song in the first place? What other songs would you like to see parodied with Fallout 4? Sound off the comments below and leave us your thoughts.
Fallout 4 is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
