Ghost Recon: Wildlands Breaks Ubisoft Beta Record

Following shortly after Ghost Recon: Wildlands‘ open beta, the tactical shooter’s publisher and developer Ubisoft has released some interesting data involving the combined statistics of the game’s recent beta phases, declaring that the title has broken the company’s record for hosting the most beta participants yet. As a matter of fact, more than 6.8 million took part in the betas for Ghost Recon: Wildlands, which is quite the sizeable figure.
For those unaware, the last game to hold the Ubisoft record for most users participating during a beta phase was For Honor, which hosted a little more than 6 million players during all testers for the multiplayer hack-and-slash title. Nevertheless, according to the figures found below on the handy infographic courtesy of Ubisoft, Ghost Recon: Wildlands easily bested For Honor with about a million more fans taking part in its trials.
Not only did Ghost Recon: Wildlands take the throne away from For Honor for most users hosted during its betas, but also the tactical shooter managed to keep fans engaged for quite a while, with average play time for fans in the beta being 7 hours, resulting in more than 34 million hours played in total. Plus, it seems as if fans were eager to explore the game’s open world map, with those taking part in the betas driving roughly 77 million miles in all.
Perhaps most intriguing, though, is the fact that Ghost Recon: Wildlands‘ betas caused about 100,000 users download the game’s Companion App. This led to fans sending nearly 10 million resources from the application to the game.
While Ubisoft surely considers Ghost Recon: Wildlands‘ beta periods to be a success, there are some fans that might assert that the quality of the trials weren’t all they were cracked up to be. For instance, many players were plagued with connection issues as they attempted to take part in the open beta, which caused frustration among those unable to get in, and likely led to Ubisoft losing some fans in the process. Despite this, excitement for Ghost Recon: Wildlands continues to mount leading up to its release next week, so it will be interesting to see if one of the most anticipated games of 2017 can not only have fruitful betas, but also sumptuous sales.
Ghost Recon: Wildlands is set to launch on March 7, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
