The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind is a major expansion planned to launch in June later this year and today Bethesda has released a new gameplay trailer highlighting the DLC add-on. Morrowind will take Elder Scrolls fans back to the location of one of the most popular titles in the Elder Scrolls franchise. Publisher Bethesda, understanding the excitement, has now happily delivered the first major gameplay trailer for the Morrowind expansion. Volcanoes, mushrooms, temples, and swamps await The Elder Scrolls Online‘s MMO fanbase in plenty.
For those unfamiliar with The Elder Scrolls or what content is going to be featured in the Morrowind expansion, here’s the content featured within the gameplay trailer according to Bethesda:
“The game’s first gameplay trailer introduces you to the epic saga in which you will return to Morrowind and take up arms to save the world from ultimate destruction. You will see more of the massive new zone, showcasing familiar locations from The Elder Scrolls III like Seyda Neen and Vivec City, as well as some of the new enemies, armor, weapons, and encounters coming to the game this June. You’ll also get a sneak peek at the new player class – the Warden – in action.”
Fans of The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind will now be able to compare various locations within the game directly to those now being added to The Elder Scrolls Online. While The Elder Scrolls Online doesn’t push high-end graphics like the single player games (or mods) in the franchise do, it’s been 15 years since the original Morrowind‘s release. It goes without saying, then, that fans can expect to see a “new” Morrowind.
While it’s not clear what direction The Elder Scrolls Online‘s story will take, much of the imagery within the trailer seems to reference the classic Morrowind. The volcanoes specifically denote the region at the center of Vvardenfell, as well as the Red Mountain itself. The temple at the end of the trailer could even be the location where the player ultimately confronts Dagoth Ur. Though fans will have to wait for a story trailer from Bethesda to ultimately find out the truth.
The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind expansion will launch on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One starting June 6.
