Blizzard has very harsh punishments in place for those who choose to cheat at Overwatch, but there’s always going to be a few gamers who continue to try and make each fight as unfair as possible. An Overwatch professional player named Brandon “Seagull” Larned recently ran into one of these hackers during a livestream, and the Team NRG player wasn’t about to concede defeat just because the other team was boosted by an single aimbot user.
Seagull had a pretty good ace in his own pocket: the eSports player had a stacked team filled with professional players, ranging from The Immortals’ Brady “Agilities” Girardi and Christopher “GrimReality” Schaefer, CLG’s own Nathan “Miso” Lui, and two other popular players named MoonMoon and DSPStanky. When the team first ran into the aimbot using D.Va, it seemed like they were destined to simply get steamrolled, and Seagull even states that it might be time to give up the stream as he becomes frustrated with the hacker’s antics. As gamers can see in the video below, however, the team of professionals rallied together and defeated the hacker with pure skill – and perhaps a hint of angry justice:
The action starts at 01:01:30.
Seagull and his team surmised that the sole aimbot user was there to boost the entire team through the ranks, so nobody on the opposite team was innocent of any wrongdoing. With a team of upset professional Overwatch players on the case, they began focus-firing on the aimbotter anytime D.Va got close. The rest of the team were easy pickings in comparison (especially for a group of veteran e-sports players), and by the time Seagull and company secured victory, they were laughing about the entire thing, which really drowned out the salty tears of the other team quite nicely.
There’s no word yet on if the cheater has been banned by Blizzard yet, but as the company has no qualms about banning people they see cheating on livestreams, we expected a belated banhammer to fall soon enough. We commend Seagull and his squad for doing the online community a great service, as there’s few things as satisfying as watching a smug cheater find out that even after using hacks, they’re still the worst player in the room.
No word yet on if the cheater will try to sue Blizzard like some other poor saps have.
What do you think about watching Seagull dispense some Overwatch justice, Ranters? Have you run into any cheaters lately?
Overwatch is available now on Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
