Overwatch: Competitive Play Season 3 End Date Confirmed

Overwatch: Competitive Play Season 3 End Date Confirmed

After two months of competitive ranking matches and countless loot boxes, Season Three of Overwatch‘s Competitive Play is scheduled to end on February 21 at 4:00PM PT.

It’s been a little over two months since season three of Overwatch‘s Competitive Play kicked off, and with countless ranking matches played, thousands of cheaters banned, and a couple seasonal events, it has been quite an entertaining season to say the least. However, all good things must come to an end and Blizzard has now confirmed the end date of the latest Overwatch Competitive Play season.

In a new announcement over at the Blizzard Forums, community manager Lylirra revealed that the third Overwatch Competitive Play season is scheduled to end on Tuesday, February 21 at 4:00PM PST. For players who have managed to complete the required placement matches to receive a Skill Rating (SR), they will be eligible to receive a special spray and player icon. As for those skilled players who have managed to land in the Top 500 players on their platform of choice, they will receive an extra player icon and animated spray on top of the other seasonal rewards.

As well as the seasonal icons and sprays, players will also receive a number of Competitive Points (CP) based on the maximum SR achieved during season three. Here is the SR to CP breakdown for season three, which has remained unchanged from season two:

  • SR 1-1499 (Bronze): 100 CP
  • SR 1500-1999 (Silver): 200 CP
  • SR 2000-2499 (Gold): 400 CP
  • SR 2500-2999 (Platinum): 800 CP
  • SR 3000-3499 (Diamond): 1200 CP
  • SR 3500-3999 (Master): 2000 CP
  • SR 4000-5000 (Grandmaster): 3000 CP

Players still have a few days to enjoy what’s left of season three, but those concerned about Overwatch Competitive Play withdrawals won’t need to worry too much. Lylirra has confirmed that season four is scheduled for launch on Tuesday, February 28 at 4:00PM PST, meaning that players will only have to wait one week before everything starts back up again.

While one week isn’t a lot of time between Competitive Play seasons, players can expect a series of new changes and features for the upcoming season. Blizzard introduced some balance tweaks to a number of Overwatch characters – such as Winston, Roadhog, and Bastion – over in the PTR and these changes are likely to feature in the final build of the game when season four starts. In addition to balance changes, players can also expect a number of small but handy features that should be coming at some point in the future, such as a highlight saving feature, and a reporting system for console users.

With a raft of tweaks and changes coming, the prospect of more seasonal events, and the possibility of Doomfist being added to the hero roster, there’s already a lot to look forward to for season four of Overwatch‘s Competitive Play.

Overwatch is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
