Prey: Watch the First 30 Minutes of Gameplay Footage

Video game developer Arkane Studios and publisher Bethesda make the first 30 minutes of gameplay in the forthcoming first-person shooter Prey available to watch online.
Without a doubt, there are many gaming fans out there who consider Arkane Studios and Bethesda’s title Prey to be one of the most highly anticipated video games of 2017, with those following the title’s development process clamoring for as much information about it as possible. Now, for fans who want an even more in-depth idea on how the forthcoming first-person shooter will look, feel, and play, Arkane and Bethesda are now allowing some previews for Prey to be published online, with the latest offering up more than the first 30 minutes of gameplay from the title.
As seen below in the video courtesy of Arekkz Gaming on YouTube, a little more than 36 minutes of Prey gameplay is covered in the footage that was taken from a preview event with the title, with Arekkz having initially spent a full hour with the first-person shooter. Of course, with upwards of a half-hour of footage on display here, it seems as if fans are being given a rather sizeable dose of Prey‘s aesthetics and mechanics.
As evidenced in the Prey video above, Arekkz makes mention of the title having gameplay elements that strongly relate to RPGs, a strong narrative, as well as a plethora of other trademark Arkane Studios features found in the developer’s other titles like the recently released Dishonored 2. Obviously, though, since the footage features the first portion of Prey‘s gameplay, fans who want to go into the title on launch day without encountering any spoilers should avoid the video at all cost.
It’s worth noting, however, that the footage from Arekkz’s preview of Prey doesn’t contain any massive spoilers about what the title contains, as it features a lot of previously revealed content, such as the game’s Gloo Gun. Naturally, fans shouldn’t expect Arkane Studios to put out any promotional materials or previews of the game that divulges all of its secrets before its release date this May, so even though 30 minutes seems like a lot of time for gameplay, it’s just scratching the surface of what will be offered in the final product.
Despite the solid quality of gameplay and visuals on display in Arekkz’s preview of Prey, one can only hope for the title’s developers at Arkane Studios to continue to refine the first-person shooter as much as possible so as to not repeat the launch day mistakes that occurred with the company’s shoddy day one release with Dishonored 2. About a month ago, Prey‘s co-creative director Rafael Colantonio declared that the forthcoming game will have a “flawless” PC launch, as well as on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, but it will be interesting to see if such promises are anything more than lip service.
Prey is set to release on May 5, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
