Horror Game Perception Will Release on Xbox One

Horror Game Perception Will Release on Xbox One

Perception, an upcoming first-person horror game from former BioShock and Dead Space developers about a blind woman exploring a creepy house, gets announced for Xbox One.

The Deep End is a studio comprised of developers that previously worked on modern horror classics like BioShock and Dead Space, so it’s understandable that genre fans are excited for its first game, Perception. Perception is a unique horror game where players take control of a blind woman named Cassie who has to solve mysteries in a creepy house. Previously announced for PC and PS4, horror fans on Xbox One can now add the game to their wishlist.

The Deep End announced the Xbox One version of Perception earlier today with a new trailer. While the trailer is light on new details, it does give players another glimpse at the mysterious mansion Cassie will have to explore in the game, as well as the unique art style created to give players a sense of Cassie’s blindness.

With the announcement of the Xbox One version of Perception, some fans may have been hoping that a release date would have been announced as well. Perception is one of the most anticipated horror games on the horizon, so eager fans are curious when they can finally experience Cassie’s adventure for themselves.

Unfortunately, the new trailer doesn’t give any indication as to when Perception will be available, but there’s a good chance it will launch by the end of the year. After all, it was originally aiming for release in 2016, so the developers have had an extra year to finish the game and polish it.

Perhaps this extra development time is what allowed The Deep End to focus some of its resources on developing an Xbox One version of the game. Regardless, it is sure to be a welcome addition to the Xbox One’s lineup of horror games, which looks to be growing significantly in 2017, thanks to releases like the well-received Resident Evil 7 from Capcom, as well as console-exclusives like We Happy Few and the open world zombie game State of Decay 2.

While there are a number of high profile horror games already available for the Xbox One and many more on the horizon, Perception still manages to stand out because its eye-catching art style, unique setting, and interesting premise. Making a narrative-driven horror game about a blind woman seems like a tricky prospect, but if any team can pull it off, surely it’s a team made up of former BioShock and Dead Space developers.

Perception is in development for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
