Fallout 4 Player Killed by Careless Dogmeat

Dogmeat is one of the most popular Fallout 4 companions. He’s cute, he finds items, and he chomps down on enemies to make them easier targets. In this case, though, he carelessly blows the player to smithereens.
Fallout 4 players have had plenty of time to get to know each and every companion the game has to offer, and Dogmeat usually ranks highly on everyone’s list. The canine companion is the first friendly post-war traveler they encounter, and unlike the other companions, he doesn’t judge the player on their actions. The world of Fallout 4 isn’t the friendliest place for canine, however, and he often walks himself right into danger.
Anyone who has a dog probably knows that they can get excited when they see laser pointers, so it’s only fitting that Dogmeat does something similar in Fallout 4. This time, however, the only lasers around come with an explosive consequence. This might not matter to an invincible pooch, but it certainly matters to a player standing near the dog when it activates around 30 laser tripwires at the same time.
Dogmeat’s choices are often pretty questionable, and he’s ended up on rooftops more often than one might think. When he’s not charging at bomb-ready super mutants or fearlessly staring down an army of deathclaws, he can be a great and useful companion. Othertimes, he does this:
This particular quest is infamous for catching careless companions off guard, and we’re certain this isn’t the first time someone has lost their life in this hallway because Dogmeat wanted to go for a walk. Of course, there’s a reason that hallway has so many tripwires, and it’s because they’re protecting the Treasure of Jamaica Plain. Players can start a quest to find this treasure by picking up randomly located flyers advertising the pre-war attraction across the commonwealth, or by finding a raider’s note on the randomly-placed body of a man named Hadrian. Simply stumbling into Jamaica Plain works too, although the building that houses the pre-war treasure is very nondescript.
Once gamers get passed those tripwires – assuming they aren’t obliterated because of a careless Dogmeat – they will find several unique collectibles in the final room, including a 2076 World Series Baseball Bat. Gamers who were expecting more may be a little let down, and so were the pre-war inhabitants of the city. Building the Treasure of Jamaica Plain display was apparently a huge stress on the town’s budget, and only a handful of people actually paid to see the display.
In the end, we suppose it didn’t really matter for long anyway, but thanks to the impressive amount of tripwires now gamers can use a famous bat to hit a home run.
That is, of course, if Dogmeat doesn’t do what a thousand crashing vertibirds couldn’t.
