Mass Effect: Andromeda Romance Options Kept Secret

Mass Effect: Andromeda Romance Options Kept Secret

BioWare general manager Aaryn Flynn reveals that the romance options for Mass Effect: Andromeda will be kept secret prior to the game’s release in March.

As any fan of the Mass Effect series can attest, the franchise is full of difficult story choices, be it choosing to save one of two loyal squad mates or deciding the fate of entire alien races. However, for many players, some of the hardest options in the game are those relating to the various romance choices that litter the series. When it comes to Mass Effect: Andromeda, however, gamers will not be able to plan out their romantic pursuits ahead of time.

As it turns out, BioWare is planning to keep the romance options in Mass Effect: Andromeda a secret right up until the game’s release date in March. This comes from studio general manager Aaryn Flynn, who spoke up on Twitter after being asked a question about whether the romance options in the game would be revealed early. Flynn responded by stating that an early release of those details is not on the cards.

“Honestly I’m inclined to not do that,” said Flynn on Twitter. “We’ve done it in the past and I’d prefer to keep that for the role playing.” Although this may prove frustrating for players who want to plan out their every move in the game in advance of getting to play it, this will at least provide some level of mystery up until the game’s release.

When it comes to the romance options themselves, BioWare has promised that there will be lots of choices available, although details revealed thus far have been thin on the ground. Instead, fans have been speculating on which of Mass Effect: Andromeda‘s companions will end up as romantic options in the game, and if any other characters will also be up for a little romance.

Of late, excitement surrounding Mass Effect: Andromeda has been ramping up. The game’s release has been a long time coming, with BioWare taking care to keep major parts of the game secret for an extremely long time. With the game’s release now only a couple of months away, updates are coming thick and fast, such as the most recent Mass Effect: Andromeda cinematic trailer.

With that in mind, however, a fair few gamers will be able to play the game a little ahead of schedule. EA Access members will be getting a 10 hour trial of the game before its official release, with any progress made carrying over to the main game proper. Of course, it’s unlikely that those 10 hours will leave time for gamers to power through the game’s romance options, but it’s not going to be for lack of trying.

Mass Effect: Andromeda will be released on March 21, 2017 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
