Even though the next Overwatch event is just one day away, much of it remains shrouded in mystery. However, a trailer for the Year of the Rooster event has leaked online, teasing some new skins for some of the game’s characters, as well as possibly revealing a brand new Capture the Flag game mode.
The end of the short video, which was posted on Reddit by user tf2manu994, shows Tracer carrying a flag. While Blizzard has yet to confirm if Overwatch will be adding a Capture the Flag mode with the Year of the Rooster event or not, the video evidence certainly makes it seem that way.
Based on the video, speculation points to the Capture the Flag mode featuring Tracer as the main playable character, which would be in line with past Overwatch events. As fans may recall, the Summer Olympics event added a Rocket League-inspired mode starring Lucio called Lucioball, and the recent Winter Wonderland event had everyone playing as Mei in a chaotic snowball fight called Mei’s Snowball Offensive.
While fans wait for news on Overwatch‘s potential Capture the Flag mode, they can start deciding which new skins they’re going to spend their hard-earned coins on. Along with the previously revealed legendary skins, the video offers a glimpse at some of the other new skins coming to Overwatch with the Year of the Rooster event. From the looks of it, Mercy, Symmetra, and Tracer are all getting new skins once tomorrow’s event launches.
If the new skins and possible new game mode weren’t enough, fans may also be able to expect the Year of the Rooster event to introduce some of the game’s latest balance changes. It’s possible that Roadhog’s hook, Ana’s healing capabilities, D.Va’s shields, and Sombra’s damage output will all be tweaked once fans download the update for the Year of the Rooster event when it goes live tomorrow.
With the Year of the Rooster event kicking off in just one day’s time, fans won’t have to wait long to learn about its possible Capture the Flag mode, and whether or not Blizzard is also adding the latest balance changes to the game with the update. One thing is for certain, though, and that is Blizzard’s dedication to Overwatch is unwavering in 2017, as the first month of the year is already seeing substantial content updates for the popular shooter.
Overwatch is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
