As many fans following the development of Friday the 13th: The Game may recall, the last portion of recorded in-game materials for the title put out by Gun Media and Illfonic offered up some extended gameplay footage featuring the game’s asymmetric multiplayer style as camp counselors try to survive against Jason. Now, the forthcoming horror game’s developers are offering up another look at Jason Voorhees stalking his victims in Friday the 13th: The Game, as Gun Media and Illfonic have released a fresh gameplay trailer highlighting the antagonist in his garb from the movie Friday the 13th, Part 6: Jason Lives.
As seen in the video from Gun Media below, Jason is not only depicted in his getup from the sixth installment in the film franchise, but also he’s shown as having a decently sized loadout of sharp weapons and supernatural powers. In the clip, he has a machete on his hip, a spear in his hand, as well as a knife that can be thrown at his prey, and he also has the ability to teleport long distances to quickly catch up with whoever he’s chasing. Of course, as seen in prior Jason kills from Friday the 13th: The Game, the monster has far more tools at his disposal.
Furthermore, the Friday the 13th: The Game clip above definitely appears to be from the title’s Xbox One version, as the “RB” and “LT” prompts on the screen are signature buttons on the Microsoft console’s controller. Previously, most pieces of footage put out for the upcoming horror release came from the game in its pre-alpha stage on the PC, so it’s good to see that development on Friday the 13th: The Game‘s other versions are progressing along nicely as well.
The latest trailer from Friday the 13th: The Game also briefly featured a snippet from the horror-punk band The Misfits’ song “Friday the 13th” playing in the cabin of which Jason and the camp counselor pass by during their chase. According to Gun Media, the song from the group is officially a part of the game’s soundtrack, with fans being able to purchase the CD from The Misfits’ website right here.
Taking all of this into account, it seems as if Gun Media and Illfonic are going to do the Friday the 13th property as much justice as possible with the forthcoming game. It’s safe to say that a lot of fans are highly engaged with the title’s production thus far, with many considering Friday the 13th: The Game to be one of the most anticipated games of 2017. With any luck, the developers will be able to provide a perfect experience for those who intersect on the Venn diagram between horror fans and gamers.
Friday the 13th: The Game is set to release in the first quarter of 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
