Resident Evil 7 promises to be a departure from the recent action-packed adventures of the series, bringing terror back to the franchise. It would appear the developer has plans to terrify its fans one last time prior to the game’s release, revealing a new real-world Resident Evil 7 experience to be held in London.
The Resident Evil 7 Experience will be held over four days in London, England, running from January 20th until January 23rd. The event is free, and tickets will be offered to 28 pairs of fans per day on a first-come, first-served basis. The Experience trailer, seen below, reveals a real-world recreation of the Baker family home that participants will be tasked with exploring. According to the official site, the exploring pair will have to solve puzzles to determine what’s happened to journalists who disappeared in the Baker home, and each experience will last for about 45 minutes.
The upcoming Resident Evil 7 Experience isn’t the first time that players have been given an opportunity to explore a Resident Evil-inspired nightmare. Capcom previously partnered with iam8bit to host a Halloween Resident Evil Escape Room promotion, but the prior event was only loosely based upon Resident Evil 7. Based on the comments made by Masachika Kawata, the game producer of Resident Evil 7, this event will bear a much stronger resemblance to the game itself:
“I’m extremely excited to see Resident Evil 7: Biohazard come to life through this Experience, and for participants to get a little taster of what is to come in the game.”
Gamers local to the London area who are interested in attending the Resident Evil 7 Experience should arrive promptly at 11:30 am local time at Dray Walk Gallery. With the event running until the night before the release of the game, it seems unlikely that any other territories will receive their own rendition of Resident Evil 7: The Experience. However, there are plenty of ways to play Resident Evil 7 with horrifying realism.
Resident Evil 7 already offers a terrifying first-person perspective view for all players, but PlayStation VR gamers will be the first to get their hands on the Resident Evil 7 VR experience. With the game’s visuals teeming with guts, gore, and blood, video game merchandise retailer Merchoid became inspired, creating a “4D” Resident Evil candle that players can burn while they play the game. While it’s not quite smell-o-vision, it should add an extra layer of ambiance to a game that’s already been terrifying players all over the world. With these options, gamers who miss out on Resident Evil 7: The Experience will still have plenty of ways to terrify themselves later this month.
