More Mass Effect Andromeda Gameplay Footage Coming

BioWare announces new gameplay footage of Mass Effect Andromeda will be shown off next week during NVIDIA’s keynote address at the Consumer Electronics Show.

Fans have been waiting four years for a new Mass Effect, and Mass Effect: Andromeda looks to be upping the ante for the franchise on almost every front. Ever since gameplay footage for the game debuted ahead of N7 day this year, fans have wanted more. With Mass Effect: Andromeda being one of the most anticipated games of the next year, there are no doubt many who are eager to see more of the game.

The next opportunity for that will come next week, on January 4th, when the game will be shown during NVIDIA’s keynote address at the Consumer Electronics Show. Developer BioWare promises to show off environments and gameplay from Mass Effect: Andromeda during the keynote.

The announcement came via Twitter today, with the news that the NVIDIA keynote can be watched online live.

The keynote will take place January 4th at 6:30 p.m. Pacific, where NVIDIA says the company will show off “the industry’s most exciting tech unveilings in artificial intelligence (AI), self-driving cars, and gaming.” And Mass Effect: Andromeda will be a part of those reveals.

Based on what has already been shown of the game, the visuals in Mass Effect: Andromeda look to be quite stunning, continuing in the tradition of the franchise. Most of the glimpses of the game, from giant monsters to beautiful explorable planets, have looked amazing. There was some fan concern about the facial animations seen in game’s trailers, which Bioware quelled saying that they were still being polished for the final game.

Mass Effect: Andromeda puts players in the role of Ryder, an interstellar explorer called the Pathfinder with the mission of exploring the Andromeda galaxy to find a new home for humanity. The events of the game take place far away in time and space from the events of the original Mass Effect trilogy.

BioWare is promising a wide selection of side activities to complete as players explore the galaxy, including Loyalty Missions with crew members, and vast planets to explore filled with giant creatures to defeat. The game is also said not to have any loading screens while aboard the game’s ship that players will use to travel the galaxy, improving the experience from the original trilogy. In addition, the developers say that the gameplay of Mass Effect: Andromeda moves at a faster pace, influenced by games like Destiny and Overwatch.

All these features of the game no doubt take advantage of the improved hardware of the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in comparison to what BioWare could develop on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Whatever BioWare shows off during NVIDIA’s conference, it will likely highlight the peak of Mass Effect: Andromeda‘s visuals, presumably on high end PC hardware.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is scheduled to release in early 2017 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
