Knack 2 Announced

At the PlayStation Experience, Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida announces that Knack 2 will be coming to the PlayStation 4 platform, giving a first look at the title with a short trailer.
During today’s PlayStation Experience conference, Sony’s own Shuhei Yoshida confirmed something that we’ve long suspected: Knack 2 is coming to the PlayStation 4. The follow up to the 2013 original seems to feature a renewed focus on co-op, with both players able to combine for more specialized attacks. The title is one of the more mainstream family-friendly titles shown at the PlayStation Experience, and while the ‘block buster’ title may not be everyone’s cup of tea, there were evidently some Knack 2 fans in the crowd.
The first glimpse at Knack 2 also revealed that the game may have a few vehicular segments available for co-op players, although we’re not entirely sure what each player will be respectively controlling. Much like the first game, each environment will feature highly destructible objects, baddies of all sizes, and plenty of nature-oriented locations. It looks like some of the main cast will be returning, although nothing is currently known about the plot for Knack 2.

The first title did a decent job of showing off PlayStation 4’s ability to render plenty of different destructible objects on screen at once, and we imagine that Knack 2 will have the rendering prowess of the PS4 Pro in mind. So far, Sony hasn’t commented on whether Knack 2 will be optimized for the PS4 Pro, but there aren’t many better opportunities to show off 4K resolution than a game which revolves around blowing things up into tiny chunks.
The sequel to Knack is far from the only announcement that Sony has brought to the table at PlayStation Experience today: the company has also confirmed a brand new standalone Uncharted experience, a Resident Evil demo that is available now, a free game called Let It Die (which looks much difference than the live-action trailer from 2014), The Last Of Us: Part 2, and plenty of more games for PlayStation’s catalog.
Since the Knack 2 announcement trailer only showed a light glimpse at gameplay, we expect that Japan Studio will be releasing some follow-up information about the title sometime soon. It was promised that the game would please both casual and hardcore gamers, but only time will tell if Knack 2 can find – and succeed in – that coveted middle ground.
