In space, no one can hear you scream – but they might be able to hear some presumably exciting main theme music. As BioWare revealed today, the main theme from Mass Effect: Andromeda is set to be revealed in some fashion this December 9th and 11th, when the currently unknown tune is played via orchestra in front of a live audience at 2016: A Video Game Musical Odyssey.
The concert isn’t just for fans of Mass Effect: Andromeda, though, as the Quebec-based performance will showcase music from a variety prominent intellectual properties from the industry: Assassin’s Creed, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Thief, and even games like Ultimate Chicken Horse will all see renditions of their music performed by members of the Montreal Orchestra Company. Still, the announcement that the show will host the world premier of the new Mass Effect: Andromeda theme music is certain to be one of the main attractions of the show.

We listed the Mass Effect trilogy soundtrack as one of the best examples of video game music out there, so expectations will be high for BioWare to keep the quality content coming. It’s currently unknown who is composing the new soundtrack, with many expecting Clint Mansell to reprise his role from Mass Effect 3 with a team that may once again include industry veterans like Sam Hulick, Sascha Dikiciyan, Christopher Lennertz, and Cris Velasco. The composer for the first two Mass Effect titles, Jack Wall, has already confirmed he is uninvolved with Mass Effect: Andromeda.
The upcoming Mass Effect title will feature the protagonist and surviving fleet members as being aliens in a brand new galaxy, and they’ll have to fight their way through new species like The Kett. BioWare is changing some core aspects that were staples of the original trilogy, so Andromeda won’t feature things like character classes anymore. The latest cinematic trailer shows that Ryder’s crew will find themselves in many precarious situations, although the studio has still refrained from showing the one thing many fans have asked for: actual gameplay footage.
The first performance will take place on December 9th in Montreal, and a second show will take place December 11th in Quebec City. Any Quebecois or nearby gamers interested in attending either concert can pick up tickets for 2016: A Video Game Musical Odyssey here.
Creative Director Mac Walters has confirmed that the Mass Effect: Andromeda soundtrack will retain the ‘sonic identity’ of the original trilogy, though the new soundtrack will hopefully still produce some original twists to the formula.
Mass Effect: Andromeda is slated for a Q1 2017 release for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
