Rainbow Six Siege Is Getting Another Year of DLC

Ubisoft confirms that Rainbow Six Siege will be getting a new season of content for 2017, along with some big patch updates in the near future.
Rainbow Six Siege has been out for almost a year, and as 2016 edges closer to the end fans are eagerly awaiting the last portion of scheduled Season One DLC. With Rainbow Six Siege outperforming Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare in terms of active players, a new season of content seemed like a sure thing – and this weekend, Ubisoft made it official. During the Pro League finals, where Ubisoft gave gamers their first look at the upcoming Red Crow DLC in action, a studio representative also confirmed that Rainbow Six Siege would be recieving support for a second season of content. If this follows the same roadmap as the first season, it means 8 more DLC operators with at least 4 more maps scheduled throughout 2017. Gamers can take a look at the official confirmation below:
Ubisoft also confirmed that the Patch 5.0 update will bring in a few oft-requested features like shield skins, full body operator skins (as opposed to just headgear), and a few complete redesigns of existing content like Twitch’s entire look and Kapkan’s laser wire traps. Ubisoft is also testing out how reducing the ranked match timer to 3 minutes plays out, so gamers might see shorter rounds when they squad up outside of the casual game mode. Beyond the patch, the long-promised Bartlett University map will supposedly arrive in a later update for PvP matches. The map was the only somewhat story-based mission from the game’s ‘campaign’, and had been promised as a regular multiplayer map months ago. Before the new season arrives, though, gamers can still look forward to the new Japanese Operators Echo and Hibana (along with a new map). The defender utilizes a singular flying drone which can cloak itself atop a ceiling, and it’s capable of disorienting anyone who get caught its rechargable sonic shockwave. Hibana, on the other hand, is capable of shooting 3 sets of 6 tiny breach charges, which can blow through fortified walls. Depending on how many she uses, they can either blow up entire portions of wall, or just create just space for drones and guns to poke through. Ubisoft didn’t state when more information about the second season would be released, so we wouldn’t be surprised if the new roadmap didn’t come out until the new year.
