Grand Theft Auto 5 Mod Drops 100 Citizens on Helicopter

YouTuber Sernandoe drops one hundred Los Santos citizens onto the blades of a helicopter in Grand Theft Auto 5 with a mod, and the results are surprising.

Grand Theft Auto V would be plenty of fun and keep multitudes of gamers occupied for months or even years if it were just a game about stealing cars and committing crimes. However, the massive open world that allows gamers to destroy just about anything is part of what’s kept the game popular for years since its release, especially when players are inspired by the chaos a single YouTuber can create in Grand Theft Auto V.

One such YouTuber has taken it upon themselves to perform a twisted experiment, which pits 100 Los Santos citizens against the propeller blades of a helicopter. YouTuber Sernandoe sets up the debacle by using the object spooner mod for GTA V to carefully spawn and position a cluster of one hundred NPCs on top of a floating billboard directly over the blades of an Annihilator attack chopper. After removing the billboard, he triggers an NPC freefall by firing into the crowd, and watches as the helicopter blades tear the crowd apart.

While many would expect the chopper to simply obliterate the crowd, the civilians get the last laugh. The helicopter is totally destroyed by the onslaught of bodies striking it, and spins furiously before breaking apart into a pieces of a fiery mess. While it’s not quite on the same level as completely crashing the game when one YouTuber pitted 100 tanks versus a train, it’s still quite amusing to see the game manipulated this way.

Many have praised Grand Theft Auto V for its gameplay and storytelling, but it’s feats like these and the free-to-play Grand Theft Auto Online multiplayer mode that keep the game popular after so many years. Despite the fact that it initially released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 back in 2013, Grand Theft Auto V is arguably more popular than ever, recently reaching 70 million units shipped. Whether players are only enjoying the single-player mode the way it was meant to be played or creating havoc like Sernandoe, or contributing to Rockstar Games’ earnings of over half a billion dollars in microtransactions via Grand Theft Auto Online, it’s clear that the game is far from dead.

Rumor has it that Grand Theft Auto V‘s story DLC has been cancelled in favor of new Grand Theft Auto Online maps. While a lack of new content would potentially kill any other game, the Grand Theft Auto V‘s open world and myriad of mods keeps players coming back, if only to see how far they can push the game’s mechanics in videos like these.

Grand Theft Auto V is out now for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
