Fallout 4 is an open world game that gives players the option to be just about any kind of character that they want to. Players can spend their time building new homes for the poor and needy or pickpocketing strangers everywhere they go. Although the game leaves lots of room for players to decide their own morality, usually something as bad as beating up children isn’t an option. Unfortunately, it seems like child abuse is an option in Fallout 4 thanks to a remaining bug.
This exploit allows players to deliver some brutal melee attacks against a group in children in the game. The video shows how the attacks play out on a PS4 version of Fallout 4 without any mods or console commands.
We don’t condone violence against children here at Game Rant, but this is an interesting exploit to point out. It seems highly likely that Bethesda will patch this option out of the game as soon as possible, so don’t expect to see this for long. Players who want to give it a try simply need to equip a boxing glove and press right bumper when near one of the kids to do an attack. Each attach is randomly generated and drains AP. The creator of the video, TheGoodMorty, recommends bringing along some Nuka Cola Quantum to replenish AP if you plan on getting in more than a few swings at a time.
We’ve seen some worse treatment of children in modded version of the game in the form of the baby rocket launcher, but that felt a little too over the top to take very seriously. Standing around and beating up a classroom of children seems like it will be a little too sadistic for most gamers. It seems very likely that a patch will arrive shortly to remove this option, but we’ll check back with updates on that.
Bethesda’s open-world games are known for their bugs and weird glitches, so it’s not too surprising that something like this slipped through the cracks. Even with months of testing, it’s got to be nearly impossible to spot every exploit in a game the size of Fallout 4 before it gets into the hands of consumers. Luckily, Bethesda still has plenty of employees dedicated to the game and frequent patches give players fixes to many problems soon after they are identified.
What do you think of this exploit? Do you think it is intentional or something that Bethesda left behind by mistake? Let us know in the comments.
