Steep Open Beta Gets Two Dates and a Trailer

Ubisoft announces the upcoming dates for two different Steep open betas coming very soon, a month ahead of the game’s planned holiday window release date.
Ubisoft’s most surprising announcement of E3 2016 is edging ever so closer to its holiday window (and seasonally appropriate) release, and that means that it was due time for Ubisoft to reveal the beta timeframe for Steep. Ubisoft had already begun recruiting beta volunteers for the open world sports title, although it hadn’t officially confirmed when the Steep beta would actually arrive. Thanks to a slick new trailer posted today, gamers now have that answer.
As the aforementioned trailer confirms, intrepid mountaineers and sports enthusiasts alike will be able to explore the Alps through two separate beta periods. An early access beta will be available to everyone who signs up for the beta on the Ubisoft website prior to November 9, and will run from November 10 to November 14. Everyone else who arrives casually late to the party can still enjoy the full open beta when it runs from November 18 to November 21.

The beta will available on PC, Xbox One, and PS4, so gamers from all camps should be able to access both runs of the beta. Ubisoft has already tested things out with members of the public from a closed beta last month, and the company as a whole is no stranger to patching out thousands of bugs from those testing phases. The game features a strong focus on multiplayer and thus requires an internet connect to play, so extreme sports enthusiasts and Go-Pro advertisers alike should ensure they have a stable connection before applying for the open beta.
Once players hit the slopes within Steep, they have ample choices on what to do next and how to get there. When not fast travelling across the map, gamers will be able to walk, board, ski, or even paraglide their way across the mountain landscape, and it looks like fans of winter sports will be getting a title that Ubisoft has put plenty of effort into. Whether a game based on extreme winter sports can succeed in a competitive holiday release window remains to be seen, but it’s not like SSX or 1080 Snowboarding have any upcoming releases, so we imagine snowboarding enthusiasts will be happy regardless.
