As evidenced by Titanfall 2‘s execution video that showcases the potency of the Legion Titan’s Predator Cannon in combat, it’s easy to see that the game’s gigantic mechs wield plenty of power on the battlefield. Of course, that’s not to say that the characters who control the huge robots are slouches themselves, as Titanfall 2‘s Pilots are completely capable of dishing out the damage on their own terms whenever it’s necessary.
For those who missed out on the initial entry in Respawn Entertainment’s first-person shooter franchise, Pilots are operators of the Titan classes which players will be controlling throughout the majority of the game. While the Titans can be likened to an extension to the Pilot’s body, when actually outside of the mechs, players will be able to recreate the massive robots’ actions to a certain extent during ground fights, which is on display in the the studio’s latest gameplay trailer.
As seen in the most recent video for Titanfall 2 below, Pilots will be able to double-jump, utilize a hover mechanic to traverse across long gaps, and can even commit to fluid bouts of wall-running similar to the way in which futuristic soldiers can in Call of Duty: Black Ops 3. Of course, all of these skills translate to the characters having the capacity to take out enemies with a deadly amount of speed and accuracy.
Not only will Titanfall 2 players be able to execute quick bursts of seamless wall to air to ground action, but also fans will have the chance to do so in style since the game offers a huge amount of visual customization for the Pilots and Titans alike. As one might expect, however, the colors, paints, patterns, logos, and body types applied to a player’s avatar won’t actually affect the power of any of the moves that can be executed.
Taking all of this into consideration, along with the recent news that Titanfall 2‘s developers are making significant improvements to the game thanks to its beta feedback, it seems as if Respawn Entertainment is primed to put out a follow-up that’s head and shoulders above the original when it comes to innovations in development. Nevertheless, with a little more than a month left to go before Titanfall 2‘s release date, it’s important for fans to retain a healthy dose of skepticism regarding its quality until the final product officially launches.
