Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered Gets Premium DLC

Video game publisher Activision has now announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is set to receive premium DLC in the form of four new maps as a part of what is being called the Variety Map Pack. The company made the news available by way of a brief trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered‘s post-launch content that can be found further below.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered‘s Variety Map Pack is set to include four separate areas known as Broadcast, Chinatown, Creek, and Killhouse. For those unaware, these are the very same maps that had originally been provided as downloadable content for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare when it was launched way back in April 2008, and their inclusion in the remaster follows the release of six classic maps several months ago.

Uninitiated parties will likely be grateful for descriptions of the areas in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered‘s Variety Map Pack, as Broadcast is based on the TV station from the “Charlie Don’t Surf” campaign mission, and it includes some tightly confined corridors and open spaces for sprawling battles. Chinatown offers a nighttime setting in a dark, foggy downtown city locale which is mostly lit by neon signs and a full moon.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered‘s Creek map gives fans plenty of open clearings, cliffs, and forestry, which is best-suited for snipers and long-range combat. And, finally, Killhouse will pit players against one another in a tiny training warehouse that is designed for intense, fast-paced shootouts.

In addition to the areas being included in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered‘s Variety Map Pack, the DLC will also include 10 Rare Supply Drops, which have been likened to microtransactions. Those interested in all that the forthcoming extra content has to offer will be able to pick up the Variety Map Pack for $15, but PlayStation 4 fans are going to be getting first dibs on March 21 thanks to Activision and Sony’s current timed-exclusive partnership for the Call of Duty franchise. While many would rightfully argue that these maps should have been bundled with the remaster’s original content, as fans were already forced to purchase a special edition of Infinite Warfare just to get Modern Warfare Remastered, hopefully Activision will follow up this DLC with the launch of some free materials to appease its player base.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One as bundled content with the Legacy Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.
