Rumor: Nintendo Switch Internal Hardware Photos Leaked

An assortment of images posted online might just be our very first look at the well-kept secrets that are the internal specs of the upcoming Nintendo Switch.
New images have surfaced that might just give Nintendo fans their first look into the upcoming Nintendo Switch. While the quality of said photos is hard to confirm, the parts revealed all seem to fit with what the Japanese developer has announced will be inside the console, as well as being consistent with previous Switch hardware leaks.
According to HotHardware, the images surfaced on Baido Chinese-language web forums and they give fans a sneak peak beneath the hood of the Nintendo Switch itself. Seeing as the console is mostly being kept behind closed doors, it’s possible that the images come from a prototype model – in which case it might differ from the actual release package – but this gives gamers a good idea of what to expect, at the very least.
If what is on display truly is a leaked image of the upcoming console, here’s a full breakdown of what it is possible to see with the system’s cover removed:
Immediately visible and eye-catching is the 4,130 mAh lithium-ion battery which takes up a great deal of space within the layout. The size of the battery is extremely important, especially when considering that the portable version of the Switch will last somewhere between 2.5 to 6.5 hours. It looks like with such a cramped fit, the Big N couldn’t really fit in a larger battery source at this time.
The Nintendo Switch seems to feature an L-shaped circuit board capable of holding 4 GB of RAM, though it isn’t obvious as to whether this comes on multiple modules or just a singular one. Other notable specifications include a 6.2 inch display capable of 1280×720 resolution when acting as a handheld, but can output at 1920×1080 at 60 FPS when in its docked, console-mode.
The Nintendo Switch also has 32 GB of built-in storage, and a microSD card reader that players are going to need to make heavy use of when it comes to downloading some of the more significant game files. With some fairly large downloads ahead of us, that 32 GB just isn’t going to be cut it.
A shot of the custom NVIDIA Tegra system-on chip (SoC) is also visible, showing us the power source for the Nintendo Switch in all its glory. So far, Nintendo and NVIDIA have been very secretive about its exact specifications, so any insight into its contents would only be speculation at this point, but it is labeled with the NX branding, which was the Switch’s code name, prior to its official reveal.
We’ll have to wait for confirmation that these leaked images are indeed of the upcoming console, but if they’re fake, they’re certainly decently put together. Either way, with the console launching in just a few weeks time, it won’t be long before we can get our eyes on the Nintendo Switch in person.
