New Overwatch Funko Pop Figures Revealed

New Overwatch Funko Pop Figures Revealed

Following the original wave of figures released alongside the game in May 2016, toy manufacturer Funko reveals a second round of Overwatch Pop figures.

Blizzard Entertainment’s team-based shooter title was 2016’s Game of the Year, and the fan response has not ceased since its release nearly eight months ago. With insightful thoughts around hero nerfs and buffs, speculation buzzing about possible character pairings becoming canon, and the excitement for new skins in special holiday events, the Overwatch train doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon. Especially not today, after American toy company Funko revealed Wave 2 of its Overwatch Pop figures.

On its official Twitter account, Funko announced the second wave to fans with an image and a link to a blog post detailing when and where the figures would be available. “We know you’ve been dying to see who is coming in Wave 2,” Funko said, mentioning that the London Toy Fair is behind the big reveal.

The second wave of Overwatch Funko Pop figures features six of the game’s heroes. Fans of the game can snag standard Pop figures in a glasses-adored snow queen Mei, a cigar-smoking McCree, or a spunky Lucio. Specializations come to the remaining three heroes: Symmetra, Reinhardt, and D.va.

The Symmetra figure includes her signature turret as an accessory. Reinhardt stands a bit taller than the other figures at six inches, and includes his massive rocket hammer. The adorable tank hero D.va figure will perhaps be the most  wanted as it includes a six-inch version of her Meka. overwatch funko pop figuresThis round of figures comes only a few months after the first wave hit last year. When Overwatch launched on May 23, 2016, Funko made the commercially tactful move to partner with Blizzard Entertainment to create a wave of original Pop figures for the game. Included in Wave 1 were faces that fans grew to love: the time-traveling Tracer; the sometimes hidden but highly deadly Reaper; the sharp-shooting, stone-cold Widowmaker; and everyone’s favorite genetically-engineered primate, Winston.

The merch method works, as evidenced by both Funko’s future endeavors with Destiny figures and Mega Bloks’s collaboration with Assassin’s CreedWith an ever-growing fanbase that recently hit over 20 million registered users, Overwatch is no exception to this trend. It goes without saying that these Overwatch Funko Pop figures will sell, sell, sell when fans get their hands on them upon an official release.

Overwatch was released on May 23, 2016, and is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows operating systems. These Funko Pop figures are part of the 2017 London Toy Fair lineup, and will be available for purchase later this year.
