Although The Sims 4 manages to maintain freshness through a variety of fan-made content, major gameplay additions and changes still come in the form of official expansions. The newest upcoming game pack to add content to The Sims 4 has now been officially announced.
EA has now revealed that the next DLC to be released for The Sims 4 will be The Sims 4 Vampires Game Pack. Players will be able to convert their Sims into vampires, which will have their own sets of needs and motives. As with the vampires in prior Sims games, vampires will be able to subsist off of the plasma taken from non-vampire Sims or from plasma fruit, which can be grown in gardens. The developer is also including a new array of options for Create a Sim for players to customize their Sims as they see fit.
In addition, The Sims 4 Vampires Game Pack will include a new World: Forgotten Hollow. The area is designed to be more spooky and atmospheric than traditional Sims locales, like Granite Falls. In addition, nighttime lasts longer in Forgotten Hollow, which should allow sun-fearing vampire Sims to accomplish more per day than in the previous games. More details on the game pack are slated to release in the weeks to come, and the game pack will be available on January 24th.
Vampire Sims were originally introduced to the franchise in The Sims 2 Nightlife expansion. They were also brought back in the Sims 3, although there were some key differences between the two. The Sims 4‘s take on vampires looks to be somewhat of a return to The Sims 2, as vampires in both games bear a stronger resemblance to the iconic, fanged creatures than they did in The Sims 3. However, at this time it remains unclear if vampires in The Sims 4 will be as vulnerable to sunlight as they were in The Sims 2, or if they simply suffer mood damage and smoking visual effects as they did in The Sims 3 Late Night.
The supernatural has had a place in The Sims series since the very first game, and it looks like EA has no plans to change that. It remains to be seen if The Sims 4 will eventually receive an expansion adding magic, as in prior iterations of the game. If demand is strong enough, it may happen, given that popular demand was partially responsible for ghosts coming back to The Sims 4 and alien abductions following in the Get To Work expansion.
The Sims 4 Vampires Game Pack will release on January 24th for Mac and PC.
