Scalebound Full Reveal at Gamescom

Scalebound Full Reveal at Gamescom

Scalebound Fight

Microsoft came out swinging this year at E3, delivering nonstop content consisting of new game announcements, live demos, and a few surprises like the Hololens Minecraft stage demo. The event was so packed, in fact, that Microsoft had to bump a number of previously announced games, saving them for Gamescom, the upcoming video game show in Germany.

While many fans continue to wait for news on upcoming titles like Crackdown and Quantum Break, Microsoft recently gave an update on the status of Scalebound, the upcoming collaboration with the typically busy developer, Platinum Games. The good news is fans won’t have too much longer to wait for more on this creative looking game.

In a response to a fan looking for an update on Scalebound, Xbox head Phil Spencer confirmed that the action title is making “good progress” and that he’s learning a lot from working with Platinum Games.

Back in January of this year, creative director Ken Lobb also publicly commented that Scalebound is “very real and very awesome,” and that he couldn’t wait for people to see and understand what the team is building. Confirming that the unique title is very much a big AAA title, Lobb believes fans will be shocked once they see the game in action.

Previously announced during Microsoft’s E3 2014 press conference by Hideki Kamiya, Scalebound has proven to be quite the mystery for fans outside of its CG debut trailer. In the trailer, fans see a character who is seemingly inside of a fantasy inspired universe taking on giant monsters. The big draw here is a dragon which the lead character appears to control or at least share a bond with to help fight such large creatures.

With a bigger focus on titles that have not been in the spotlight much in the past year – Crackdown, Scalebound, and Quantum Break, to name a few – Gamescom should prove to be a unique show for fans of the Xbox One. In fact, this is one of the first years where Gamescom has rivaled E3 in terms of the announced, triple-A games set to make large scale reveals during the event. Typically, the event caters to the European crowd with follow-up trailers and additional details, but this year’s event will feature heard-it-here-first type announcements. So stay tuned to Game Rant for all the big news coming out of Gamescom 2015 this August.

Scalebound is currently slated for release on the Xbox One sometime in 2016.
