According to recent rumors, Ubisoft is working on a Rabbids/Mario crossover RPG for the Nintendo Switch. But the game, which brings two of gaming’s most successful franchises together, may not be the only big Switch title that Ubisoft has up its sleeve. The publisher is now also said to be looking at bringing the next Assassin’s Creed game to the upcoming Nintendo console as well.
The suggestion follows a recent YouTube video by OBE1plays. Discussing recent comments that suggest that the Switch will be great with open-world games, the YouTuber says that it would be nice to see the Assassin’s Creed franchise take advantage of the new console’s technical prowess.
Journalist Laura Kate Dale, who is responsible for several leaks, including the information about a Dark Souls 3 Nintendo Switch port, then backed this up. In two separate tweets, the journalist says that Ubisoft is in fact aiming to bring the next Assassin’s Creed game to the Nintendo Switch and that the company wants the game to release at the same time as the PS4 and Xbox One versions.
@paidenthusiast @OBE1plays as far as I know Ubi want the next AC to hit Switch same date as other consoles yep.

While this is just a rumor for now, Ubisoft has previously teased that it is working on a ‘surprise’ Nintendo Switch game. The company has also praised Nintendo repeatedly for what it is doing with the Nintendo Switch, indicating that it wants to support the console in a big way. Could that support include bringing its hugely popular stealth series to the console as well?
Assuming that Ubisoft really is working on a Switch version of the upcoming game it’s still unclear what the Switch version – or any version of the game for that matter – might include. Previous speculation suggested that the next Assassin’s Creed will be set in Egypt, although many fans voiced their support for a game set in the African country, Ubisoft has yet to confirm the setting. Additionally, Ubisoft has promised that the next Assassin’s Creed will be ‘less scripted’ and there’s also the suggestion that future series entries will feature the Animus from the Assassin’s Creed movie.
With fans having complained that previous Assassin’s Creed games had grown stale and that the franchise’s story no longer makes sense, any shake up will be welcomed. Big changes to how the series does things, along with a fresh new platform for it to release on, could well give fans a reason to get excited for the franchise all over again.
