Earlier this year, the Skyrim total conversion mod known as Enderal released in August, providing fans of Bethesda’s open world fantasy-RPG with what is essentially its own complete game filled with its own unique world and lore built upon the structure and overall components of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. Now, Nicolas Samuel, lead writer of Enderal, with support from some of SureAI, the group of modders responsible for the mod, have announced that the Skyrim total conversion mod will be receiving its own DLC called Forgotten Stories.
As described on SureAI’s forums, Forgotten Stories is set to add 10 to 20 hours of new content to the Skyrim mod, with two new guild quest lines (geared toward the Golden Sickle, Enderal‘s most influential merchants’ guild, and the Rhalâta, the mysterious cult ruling the Undercity), new bounty missions, new weapons, a “secret ending” being added to the main quest line, and lots more in the way of improvements to the base game. Those looking forward to its availability might be waiting a while, however, because it currently only has a release window for sometime in 2017, as evidenced in the trailer below.
Enderal’s lead writer Nicolas Samuel explains on the Skyrim mod’s site that he has been working on Forgotten Stories full time with his own resources, as the rest of SureAI’s team are currently busy with other projects at the moment. Although the project can’t be supported directly, he does offer means to help cover his “basic expenses” by allowing fans to support him through PayPal.
For those unaware, Enderal: Shards of Order was so popular among gamers that it went on to win big at The Game Awards 2016, as it took home the trophy for “Best Fan Creation.” Of course, the competition was quite limited due to the fact that Geoff Keighley, The Game Awards’ founder, removed two other popular nominees from the category due to possible legal action being taken against the ceremony, as Pokemon Uranium and AM2R were nixed from the list.
Nevertheless, Enderal remains to be an incredibly popular mod for Skyrim. Furthermore, the dedication to its forthcoming expansion in Forgotten Stories ought to speak volumes in regards to the work ethic of Nicolas Samuel, which should excite fans who are looking forward to more content for the project.
Taking all of this into consideration, Enderal will more than likely go down alongside the Skyblivion mod as one of the most impressive fan creations for Skyrim. Hopefully, Nicolas Samuel’s work with Forgotten Stories will not only inspire more content for Enderal in the long run, but also will invigorate other amateur developers and modders into making their own projects.
Skyrim‘s total conversion mod, Enderal, is set to receive the Forgotten Stories expansion sometime in 2017.
