There is a new quest in Destiny that can only be picked up during the current December live event, The Dawning. Go to Amanda Holliday to receive the “Speed Kills” quest. According to Bungie, this quest will only be available for pick up during this event; however it can be completed at any time, including once The Dawning ends on January 3rd. This Destiny quest is relatively easy, but here are the steps players will need to go through the complete it and get their hands on a new Sparrow.
The “Speed Kills” quest will become available at Amanda Holliday after hitting Rank 2 in Sparrow Racing League reputation. If it hasn’t appeared for you, be sure to play some SRL and pick up the associated daily bounties to rep up faster.
The first step to the quest is to kill Devil Splicers in the Plaguelands. This can be done anywhere: on Patrol, Archon’s Forge, or even Story Missions that take place in the Plaguelands. It takes about 100 kills to complete this step, and is best done in Archon’s Forge where players can find high concentrations of Splicers.
The next step to the quest is defeating Champions in the Challenge of the Elders. Chances are, many players haven’t spent a lot of time playing Challenge of the Elders anymore, but it’s quite a bit easier (even solo) now that the Light level has been raised to 400.
Pick up an Elders’ Sigil from Variks in the Reef and then enter the Challenge of the Elders either solo or with friends – although this is entirely possible to do solo. Then, simply kill the bosses on each stage. If the first boss is easy, feel free to kill that first boss and then go back to orbit and return. However, depending on the bosses it might be just as easy to go through all three stages.
This quest is an equivalent to last year’s SRL quest “With Finesse and Speed” that awarded the Nightsteed Sparrow. Just as with that quest, players will be required to again complete the Story Missions Fear’s Embrace and Outbound Signal within a time limit.
Again, these are not nearly as hard to complete under time with a high Light level. These missions should be highlighted with the purple active quest notification. Select those missions and finish them in the required time.
Return to Amanda Holliday in the Tower to finish the quest and collect The Poison Apple Sparrow. Similar to the Lysander’s Cry Sparrow, The Poison Apple is not necessarily anything special stat-wise, but it’s worth picking up for those interested in collecting everything they can in Destiny.
Destiny: Rise of Iron is available now on PS4 and Xbox One.
