Jason Schreier of Kotaku has built up quite a name among Destiny fans. Most often at the forefront of insider information and rumors about Bungie’s sci-fi shooter, Schreier is both hated and loved (for the same reason— reporting rumor and leaked information) by different people in the Destiny community. He was also behind the initial report that claimed Destiny 2 will come to PC.
Once word of Rise of Iron broke there was an initial surge of claims that Destiny 2 would be branching out from consoles to include PC, but after a while the news simmered down to rumor. That is, until today, when a few gamers noticed a job listing on Bungie’s website for a World Design Tester position that calls for someone who has “Experience testing multiple platforms (Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, PC).”
It was that mention of PC that piqued gamers’ interestes and made fans wonder if it was another piece of evidence to support the fact that Destiny 2, very much well underway in development at Bungie, would in fact be coming to PC.
In response to that tweet, Schreier pointed out that the job listing was irrelevant since it mentioned Xbox 360 and PS3, which are consoles Destiny stopped supporting with new content just prior to the launch of Rise of Iron. But Schreier made a point to say that he can “confirm” Destiny 2 will be on PC.
@Gothalion It's not on 360/PS3 so that job listing doesn't say much. But I can confirm it'll be on PC!— Jason Schreier (@jasonschreier) November 16, 2016
Bungie has yet to comment on the situation, but considering Schreier’s track record with Destiny leaks, it’s likely he has a source close to the game that has confirmed it.
Little is known about Destiny 2 at this time, but Activision says the game is still on track to launch in 2017, with most assuming that means a launch in the fall of next year. There has been leaked concept art, but it left very little for fans to go on after it was revealed that the art was from a rejected pitch for the sequel. As a result, tons of questions remain, including whether it will be a physical release or another (but much larger) expansion? Many also wonder if Destiny 2 fully reset players’ characters or if will it continue with the characters created in Destiny 1?
The sequel was rebooted, according to reports, with the directorial team in charge of last year’s The Taken King expansion stepping to get the game back on track. Bungie has kept silent on any hints or news about a sequel, and the developer is unlikely to show much until next year’s E3.
Destiny: Rise of Iron is available now on Xbox One and PS4?
