After a rush of information prior to E3 2016, Ubisoft has slowed down somewhat as the game nears its mid-November launch date. Fans have already seen plenty of gameplay from the open world activities to the chaotic multiplayer modes, but for some PC gamers, there were still a few details missing. In addition to an unfortunate but small delay, Ubisoft has finally revealed the many exclusive features and enhancements coming to the PC version of the title, including the system requirements players will need.
In a dual post on the UbiBlog, the first reveal for Watch Dogs 2 confirmed that the PC version of the upcoming open world action game has slipped from its November 15 release date by two weeks. PC enthusiasts can now get their hands on the game starting on November 29 but the trade off here may make the game well worth the wait.
While the delay may be disheartening for some, Ubisoft has also taken the opportunity to reveal the system requirements and many new and improved features coming to this version of the game. From a minimum requirements perspective, fans will need to ensure that they’re running an Intel Core i5-2400S or AMD FX-6120 processor, 6 GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 or AMD Radeon HD 7870. Ideally, Ubisoft recommends an Intel Core i5-3470 or AMD FX-8120, 8 GB of RAM, and at least a GTX 780, GTX 970, GTX 1060 or R9 290.
While the PC version will support Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 Dualshock, and all Xbox-based third party controllers, users with a Steam controller, racing wheel, or DirectInput devices are on their own as no official support will be given. Ubisoft has promised that using a keyboard and mouse is a viable option as well and users can swap back to a controller seamlessly.
Unlike its console brethren, the extra time will help Ubisoft finalize an impressive list of exclusive features and enhancements for the PC version. Watch Dogs 2 on PC will include support for full 4K resolutions and additional visual options such as Ultra Textures and Extra Details. Other community requested options include the ability to uncap the framerate. The extra two weeks will give the studio added time to ensure that all these features will be better optimized and polished to meet not only the developers standards, but fans as well.
Based on the less than enthusiastic response from the visual look of the original Watch Dogs, it can be assumed that the level of customization and features present here represents Ubisoft’s answer to critics of the original. While modders were able to visually enhance the PC version of the original, with Watch Dogs 2, it appears the job has already been done for them.
