CoD: Infinite Warfare Trailer Details Weapon Crafting

Activision’s latest trailer for the first-person shooter Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare‘s forthcoming beta details how players will use the game’s weapon crafting system.

Since Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare‘s beta dates coming up rapidly, Activision and Infinity Ward have decided to give players getting ready to do battle a better idea of how the futuristic title’s mechanics work, specifically its weapon crafting. In order to do that, the publisher and developer have unveiled a short, albeit informative trailer giving an overview of how the system works within the game.

As seen in the clip for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare below, just like in all of the other games in the franchise, fans will unlock and obtain weapons by leveling up, but in the forthcoming installment in the series, players also can get prototypes of guns they want to use in combat. Weapons are listed in four different levels — Common, Rare, Legendary, and Epic — with each having its own perk, such as the one in the trailer which rewards a 25-player kill streak with a tactical nuke strike.

For the first time ever in the series, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare introduces a way in which players will be able to craft prototypes using salvage, which, according to the above video, is the title’s in-game crafting currency. Apparently, salvage “can be earned in a variety of ways,” but the clip does little beyond stating that fans will need to play as often as possible to earn the larger amounts.

Although weapon crafting will be a part of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare‘s upcoming beta, it remains to be seen if there will be certain limitations on the feature like there will be with the maps and modes. For instance, the first-person shooter’s multiplayer trial scales back the offerings of the full game by only offering players the chance to try out the three maps Frontier, Frost, and Throwback, and four modes of Team Deathmatch, Domination, Kill Confirmed, and the new game mode known as Defender.

As an entry point to Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare‘s weapon crafting, fans will start out with a the title’s take on class-based multiplayer gameplay with loadouts called Combat Rigs. There are six in all, and they’re dubbed Warfighter, Stryker, Phantom, FTL, Synaptic, and Merc.

Should PS4 players want to try out Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare‘s weapon crafting system in the multiplayer trial that begins tomorrow, they will need to clear out some hard drive space, of course. As it happens, Activision and Infinity Ward recently revealed that the beta’s file size weighs in at 19 gigabytes, and can be pre-loaded right now.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is set to release on November 4, 2016 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
