Modern Warfare Easter Egg Creates Timeline Anomaly

Modern Warfare Easter Egg Creates Timeline Anomaly

Gamers discover a Modern Warfare Remastered Easter Egg that allows players to eliminate an important villain and create a time paradox in the Modern Warfare series.

One of the most iconic missions in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is the sniper mission, “All Ghillied Up.” In the mission, players take on the role of a young John Price, who with the help of his companion, sneaks through enemy lines to take out Russian arms dealer, Imran Zakhaev. In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, players will be able to once again shoot down Price’s nemesis in high definition, albeit with a twist.

As the below video shows, Activision has added a unique Easter Egg into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered that allows players to fiddle with the Modern Warfare timeline and earn a unique achievement. The action, termed Time Paradox in the trophy and achievements lists, has players taking down additional enemies that show up again in Modern Warfare 2 and 3.

For Modern Warfare Remastered, the developer has added Vladimir Makarov to the jeep behind Zakhaev, per a flashback event that happens in Modern Warfare 3. Eagle-eyed gamers will notice that Markarov is missing from the jeep in the original Modern Warfare, but with the character appearing in the series’ third installment, Activision has now added Makarov to the mission, making him visible through the scope of Price’s sniper rifle.

To earn the Time Paradox achievement, players will need to be quick on the trigger, as they’ll need to drop Makarov almost immediately after shooting at Zakhaev. As the video shows, once players fire their first shot, they’ll need to immediately track over to where Makarov is sitting in the jeep and start shooting. Players won’t have much time since an attack chopper gets in the way, but if players are successful, Makarov’s jeep will stay in place. Otherwise, the jeep will scoop up Zakhaev and take off as it did in the original Modern Warfare.

Naturally, this action causes a major disruption to Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3, where Makarov plays a key role. It’ll be interesting to see if Activision decides to give both Modern Warfare sequels the same remastered treatment as the first Modern Warfare, and if the developer will add something special for those players who have unlocked this achievement.

Regardless of how Time Paradox affects Modern Warfare 2 and 3, it’s a fun Easter Egg that many Modern Warfare Remastered players will surely shoot for when the game releases with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. Hopefully Activision has built in other fun Easter Eggs and achievements into the upcoming remastered game.
